IE 8

Here’s a quote: “The role of the browser has become more and more important.”

Here’s a thought: No duh.

Here’s an idea: If cloud computing is where we’re headed and it clearly looks like that’s the case. Then what do we need a “desktop” for? Shouldn’t a computer’s “screen” or “desktop” be the browser? Why is it a stand alone program… it should be THE program. Or maybe it’s a low-cost solution to expanding online usage among low income and developing populations? Users get laptop that consists of a processor, screen, keyboard, and mouse/cursor… no need for a large hard drive a small flash drive will suffice as all saving can be done in the cloud, as with word processing, excel, powerpoint, etc.

Seems to me there’s a lot we could strip from a computer and not lose any functionality. What’s keeping all that “stuff” there is history, is paradigm, is “the way things have always been.”

Actually that goes beyond a solution for developing nations… I want one of those sleek, stripped down, fully functional machines. Investors please?
