I have no idea here… just a thought at the absurdity of our federal and state governments not having more technological wherewithal.
Overhauling our electrical grid is a much needed undertaking from what I know (which is little) and should help move us from the 20th to 21st century (a decade late). That coupled with Obama’s recently announced creation of a new post in his administration, the nation’s first Chief Technology Officer are “hopeful” signs.
I’m not trying to get into a partisian discussion here but the fact that Clinton or Bush didn’t see this need and fill it nearly two decades ago is ridiculous.
It’s an Innovation Economy, we can’t afford to lag behind other developed nations any longer at the state and federal level when it comes to technology adaption.
I’m hopeful, however, that a CTO will help bring our government agencies up to speed as it relates to technology in the short term and and in the long term ensures that we’re using the latest and greatest where necessary to save tax payer money by reducing the public work force (there’s that Republican side of me coming out).
